AWA Newsletter: February 2020

Dear AWA Friends,

The AWA Board had a great time meeting up over video-conference for a series of planning sessions. It was a wonderful way to get to know and orient our new members, Andrea and Guy. They’ll both be introducing themselves in future newsletters. Since we’re happily immersed in AWA’s big picture, we’d love to continue the conversation with you.

Dear AWA Friends,

We’ve had another exciting year at AWA. We trained 50 new workshop leaders; we supported 220 workshop leaders through our affiliate program; and we hope to raise $6000 with our year-end fundraising drive.

Greetings AWA friends!

Where the bijiminies does the time go? In January of 1999 I attended a sample AWA writing workshop during my MFA residency led by Patricia Lewis. This was a life changing event as I instinctively resonated with the method, the practice(s) that honored myself as an Artist.

Dear AWA friend,
Why would someone do the AWA training and become a certified facilitator? A couple of months ago I got involved in several discussions—some on Facebook, one by email—about the value of becoming certified as an AWA leader.

Dear AWA friend,

I want to begin by thanking everyone who has participated in Write Around the World this month, as a writer or a workshop leader. Your passion for this work helps sustain our own.

AWA Newsletter: April 2019

Dear AWA friend,

I want to begin by saying thank you to all of you who’ve jumped on board to lead an AWA writing session for our “Write Around the World” fundraiser this May. This year the funds raised will be supporting a new program. AWA is implementing an initiative we’re very excited about. Working together with Suzanne Rancourt (a military veteran herself
and an AWA facilitator who already leads workshops with veterans) and Al Miller (also an AWA facilitator and a Vietnam veteran), we are launching a three-part process to create workshops for military service people and their families.
