Amherst Writers & Artists has a 30+ year history of nurturing writers across differences of class, age, gender, and more.
Non-profits founded by people who’ve been through our training program (Voices from Inside, New York Writers Coalition, Write Around Portland, 916 Ink) are themselves approaching 20 year milestones. The number of people who have benefited from an AWA workshop, writing group, or retreat is in the hundreds of thousands.
Our success is in large part due to our foundation. The AWA method was developed and is sustained by the contributions of people across class lines, including those who’ve been most marginalized and ignored. In order to continue our work, it is crucial that we continue to bring these voices into our trainings and our network of writing workshop leaders.
You can help. Your donation of any amount today will provide scholarships to low-income writers and workshop leaders.
We have been given a generous $3000 gift and are over halfway to our year-end goal of raising $6000. The money you give has real power:
- When 5 people give $35, we will be able to give a full scholarship for an AWA-certified workshop leader to be part of our affiliate network
- When 30 people give $75, we will be able to give a full scholarship for a writer to attend our workshop leader training
- When 20 people give $150, we will reach our goal and be able to start an ongoing fund to provide a set amount of scholarships available annually
