Every May, AWA workshop leaders across the globe bring writers together. Leaders help AWA raise funds by offering donation-based writing groups. Proceeds from each session support AWA and its mission. New writers experience the AWA method and celebrate the unique creativity in each other’s voices.
Write Around The World 2024 is nearly here! Check out this year’s event calendar and sign up for your chance to produce some great writing, engage with a supportive community and experience the magic of AWA. We’re offering groups nearly every day!
This writing was done during Louise Bierig’s WAW Workshop last year’s.
The Fox in the Family of Things by Christie Turano
The fox lies down under
the canopy of trees.
The ground receives his body, his fatigue,
the wins in the hunt, and those where
he persevered and was unrewarded.
But now as night falls and his rest calls to him,
he will stretch, sigh, and sleep under the dome
of stars and dream of the hare caught,
the mouse grabbed, the pheasant
cornered and the fox will delight,
in the thrill of the chase and his full belly.
The soft ground he lies on, is busy with creatures,
large and small, scurrying around him yet unheeded.
The fox dreams and is satisfied, fed by the deep knowing,
in his bones of his place in the universe.
